Abstract
The article considers the environmental problems of the Caspian region, the causes of their occurrence and the necessary solutions. For a long time, the sea has suffered from pollution from oil extraction and refining activities, radioactive waste from nuclear power plants and huge amounts of untreated domestic and industrial waste brought by the Volga River, which provides about 80% of all fresh water inflow into the Caspian. Currently, this issue is very relevant, because the negative impacts on the environment are increasing every day. Accordingly, there is a need to develop and adopt scientifically sound ways to solve the environmental problems of the Caspian region.
